After representing Australia in 5 consecutive Paralympic Games, gold medallist swimmer Matt Levy shares what keeps his head above water in life.
Matt Levy OAM was born prematurely at 25 weeks with Cerebral Palsy ... he is legally blind. He was thrown into the world and given two choices: to sink or to swim. He has survived 50+ operations on his brain, heart, lungs and ears. He has also competed at 4 consecutive Paralympic Games (and won 2 gold), won 20 international medals, held 4 world records and was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (O.A.M) for his service to sport.
In addition, Matt has completed a Bachelor of Business (Management) and an MBA in Leadership and Innovation and has worked Westpac Bank as a Change Analyst in the consumer division for over 13 years.
Matt's book, Keeping Your Head Above Water: Inspirational Insights From a Champion, details how his perceived shortcomings led him to discover his unique strengths, and he talks about how to stop comparing yourself to others, capitalise on your talents, and stay focused as you charge forward.
